Ayodhya Travel Guide : Destination to be Explored !

I visited Purulia this winter, in December ’18 when its famous red earth was bone dry and the evenings were cold. The best time to visit is from November – March.

How to reach :
An overnight train (Train name: Adra- Chakradharpur) from Kolkata(Howrah) took me to Purulia Junction, where we met our driver who took us to our homestay ( Ayodhya Hill Top tourist lodge ).

Where to stay :
There are many such tourist lodge , homestays, tent and luxury hotels as well as per your requirement and choice. The rate of Ayodhya Hill top tourist lodge starts from 1200/-per night.

Fooding is done in a meal system which incl. (Brekafast+lunch+evening tea+dinner) 600/- per person.

Winter in Purulia was very charming and we spent 3 days to explore it’s serenity. Ayodhya Hill is a popular tourist spot of this district and is the native home of the Santhals.

Places of tourist attractions :
Muruguma Dam which is a tribal town and can be reached from purulia via auto or reserved car.

The dam is very deep. This place experiences fall of temperature during winter among all other tourist places.

Khairabera dam or Lake is a very charming place.

This is an irrigational dam amidst the slopes of Bagmundi.

Marble Rock Lake is a hidden gem. Its the place where ” Channder Pahar ” film was shot.

A natural place with natural decoration .

The project of Upper dam and Lower dam is located in Ayodhya hills.

We experienced a blissful Sunset from Upper dam.

Charidah Village – Masks of Chhau dance are from this small village which are internationally famous.

This village is located in the area of Bagmundi.

On the banks of the Kangsabati river, stands Deulghata, a wonderful place to explore which consits of several old temples. It has ruins of 15 temples.

Pakhi Pahar is the hill which holds a story of “Crazy” sculptor of Purulia. He sculpted images of giant birds on hills.

The breathtaking sunsets, the essence of pure rural beauty from the dry red roads, the golden brown fields, the Chau masks, the dense forest altogether makes it a perfect tourist destination.

If you want to relax this weekend from your busy schedule, Purulia is a must visit suggestion.

Hope that I have provided a pretty informative description to easily plan a trip to the ‘Land of Surprises’, Purulia.
