The holiday to Andaman Islands way back in 2018 was a lifetime experience. Its full of natural beauty and amazing marine life. I am eager to share my experience which may help others to plan a better trip. The best time to visit Andaman Islands is from December to March to experience a pleasant weather.
The day we landed at Port Blair, the tour itinerary was handed over to us by our driver.
The first day was planned to visit the Cellular jail. This place is the best way you get to know the past chapters of our Indian history. One needs 2-3hours to see the entire jail. Once you enter this place, silence will make you feel every bit of the feelings the prisoners had.The light and sound show in the evening will tell you all the details you ever want to know about Cellular jail and Kaala Pani.
The next day we headed to Ross island, the small beach which was completely destroyed in the 2004 Tsunami. The island was full of ruins of old houses. It was crowded with deers and peacocks.
The next destination which is my favourite was the Ross and Smith Island. The awesome twin islands. They are connected by a narrow strip long white sand, that disappears in high tide and reappear during Low tides. It is an experience you won’t forget soon, walking between two oceans, one on either side of you.Sea water is crystal clear and you could see the sea bed even after wading into the water neck deep.
The boat ride through the mangroves in Baratang Island was scary yet adventurous. We missed the lime stone cave due to one of our family members health condition. Before visiting this place we had to wake up 4 a.m in the morning to enter the area where the Jarwa tribe could be seen. But we didn’t saw a single of them as they are very conscious of the tourists.
Dhani Nallah mangrove forest was one beauty I can never forget. The walk through a wooden bridge amidst the forest to reach the small beach was mesmerizing.
The next stop was Neil Island where we reached by a luxurious Cruise.Three colours of blue is what you can see here with amazing green natural beauty.Laxmanpur beach , Sitapur beach are the places to relax in Neil island.
If you plan for 10-12days trip you can visit Diglipur and Mayabander. But 7days trip will end at Baratang Island.
Havelock Island is again one wonderful island. This island, with beautiful sandy beaches fringed with green canopy of the rain-fed forests beckons everyone to enjoy the frolic and fun at the azure sea.
Samudrika Naval marine museum is one of the finest museum I have ever witnessed. Its located in Port Blair. The day before our holiday ended we visited to this place. This museum create awareness on various aspects of oceanic environment and houses a vast collection of cells, corals and a few species of colourful fishes of the sea around the islands.
Andaman and Nicobar Islands are famous across the world for holding many stunning islands. Give it a visit if not yet. Andaman is not less than any other foreign destinations.
