Well, you said love..I heard hills.
You said passion..I heard travel
You said serenity..I imagined green grass,blue sky….
My idea of leisure is a few days away from the regular hustle and bustle and a rush into nature’s lap. This time I chose Gangtok which is in the eastern part of Sikkim, a tiny state in India, for the 5th time.
Trust me this stunningly beautiful place will never make you feel full and drill. Walking along the blooming Rhododendrons, crystal clear sky above and the mightly subtlety of the snow covered Kangchenjunga will definitely make you nostalgic and pensive.
I stayed in hotel Mazong which was about 2.5 km away from M.G Marg, heart of Gangtok. Mornings began with the sun kissed Kangchenjunga being the first sight I saw as soon as I opened my eyes. For that two days , I wrapped myself in the incredible sikkimese hospitality and mouth watering tebetan staples.
My escapade had an itinerary that however had to be customised due to excessive snowfall and blocked roads. Hence I could only visit Rumtek Monastery and few other local delights.
Sikkim offers innumerable adventure sporting options to its visitors. Unfortunately the weather was a spoilsport for me.
Private/ shared cabs are easily accessible from NJP railway station as well as from the airport to reach this dreamy landscape.
You can never have enough of the addiction of Northeast India. You go once and you will never be able to resist the urge to go back once more. Those vibrant flags recognised the divine power of the quaint beauty and it will surely make you believe that yes, prayers do come true .
Sikkim is a quiet treasure for peace lovers, beauty seekers. The scenic nature, cultural heritage and favourable climate makes this place undoubtedly the jewel of the Eastern Himalays .
